at the bottom of the page it says

The different values for the "somedatatype" are listed in here.

But if you follow that link to
http://www.ssec.wisc.edu/mcidas/doc/mcv_guide/1.0beta1/isl/datasources.txt
it produces a 404 Not Found error.

Thanks for reporting the broken link - we appreciate it!

The link actually works correctly in the manual on the website (http://www.ssec.wisc.edu/mcidas/doc/mcv_guide/1.0beta1/). But you're correct that it doesn't work in the manual packaged in the software.

Just a quick follow-up to say that this has also been fixed in the manual packaged in the software. So it will work correctly in the next released version (1.0beta2).
