Altering vertical scale units alters wind barbs

Using McV 1.0 beta 6:

I loaded a text point data file in a map display, and set the layout model to wind barbs. When I then go to View -> Viewpoint -> Vertical Scale, I can change the scale freely until I change the units on it. If I change the units, it also changes all of my wind barbs to circles, as though they have no speed (or, perhaps, the speed threshold to get a barb has been changed from m to km as well?)

I've attached before and after screenshots, but I can also reproduce this pretty easily if needed.
