4 channel combo display issue

I want to do a simple band 27 - band 31 subtraction for MODIS. I know I can use a formula to do this, but I like the 4 channel combo tool. Everything seems to work fine until I try to create the display. When I do this, I get a strange error window. See attached. If I click OK on the window, the display still comes up, but V still doesn't behave properly. The layer controls for my subtracted field are blank. I have to go through a roundabout way to be able to edit my color table and do other plot modifications.

I get this too, it's a problem with the newer ImagePlanViewControl. We'll start
looking into this.
