Good morning everyone

I want to display a track like the attached picture.

But, instead of a full line, i would want to have a line made with points, like this : ...............

How can i do that in McIdas v17 (Windows) ?

Hello Francois-

I consulted with Bob and we were not able to find a way to do this when using the Track Colored by Parameter display type. I wrote up an inquiry to see if this can be done: inquiry 2648.

I was able to get a display that might work for you by using the Point Data Plot display type.

1. Under Fields, I chose "Point Data" under the Track field.
2. Under Displays, I chose the "Point Data Plot" option.
3. In the Layer Controls I changed three options:
- I unchecked the Declutter: checkbox
- I changed the Layout Model by clicking on the double down arrows to edit the Location Layout Model by selecting "Edit". In the Layout Model Editor, right-click on the center symbol and choose Properties. I changed the Shape: to "Filled Circle" and changed the Scale Size By: to 0.1
- Under the Times tab in the Layer Controls I changed the Show: radio button to Multiple.

This process gave me dots at every data point. This might not be desirable for your type of data depending on how many data points you have, but it was the best alternative we came up with. I hope this information helps. Let us know if you have further questions.
