I loaded 2 MODIS files through the HYDRA tab and there was an annoying gap between the two scans
Here's what I've tried:
1. Increasing texture quality which made the gap slightly smaller
2. Turning off fast rendering which didn't do anything
3. Loading the two files at the same time, this fixed the gap issue but the image's range was messed up

Re: MODIS HDF files have a gap between scans
Hi Rammasun-
My colleague did some testing and this is a problem for the last few versions. I've written up a new inquiry 3172 for evaluation. You did follow the correct aggregating procedure, but then the data values are off. At this time we are not seeing a way right now to display the two consecutive MODIS granules without a gap and with correct values.
If you wanted to try our nightly version, aggregating MODIS files together does work correctly in the nightly if you use HYDRA2 through the toolbar button. We are currently in the process of integrating HYDRA2 into MciDAS-V and the functionality is currently limited as we work on this development. The data doesn't display in the Main Display window, but rather in a separate HYDRA2 window. If you don't mind the minimal controls and just want to see a quick display, you could try the following:
- Download and install the nightly
- Run the nightly and go to the Toolbar Options tab of the User Preferences. Find the HYDRA2 button in the left column (near the bottom) and add it to the list of buttons in the Main Display
- From the Main Display, click on the new HYDRA2 button
- From the HYDRA2 window, choose File>Files
- Navigate to the directory with the MODIS data, and add the file(s). Multiple consecutive files can be selected and they'll be aggregated together
- From the main HYDRA2 window, select the band, draw a box around the data you want to display, and click Display
- To change the enhancement and range, click on the black box containing the layer's name and there are text entry boxes to set the min/max value, along with a button where you can select one of the enhancements
The nightly contains all of the code changes from the previous day and not everything has been fully tested. So, please be aware you may run into bugs. Also, this iteration of HYDRA2 is not in its final form and our goal is to fully integrate this into McV so displays would go to the normal McV Main Display and Layer Controls windows.
If you have any questions, please let us know.
Thanks, Jay
