Hi,
I loaded some data from the easts server and I wanted to save one band locally.
I right clicked on the data under "Data Sources">Make Data Source Local
I changed the name of my data. I did find it confusing that the default setup did not allow me to save the data right away. I had to go up a directory and then select the directory I wanted before the save button became active. However, I remember Jess telling me this was a problem unique to the mac.
I clicked save and then I got a widget that said "Select fields to download" with a checkbox to "Select All." It appears that this is my only option. Even when I expand the widget, there are no options to just save one band of my data. Should I have more options here?
Thanks,
Joleen

Re: Make Data Local
Hi Joleen,
This is likely a repercussion of changes required to make bundles work with the new image chooser. I wrote up an inquiry to see if we can correct the problem:

Re: Make Data Local
Rick,
I just tried again this morning to save an area with the "Make Data Source Local" option and realized that the problem is not just in saving one band, but that it does not save my data at all. The inquiry only covers a specific problem in this.
Furthermore, I have tried saving the data in zipped bundles as suggested in the Users Guide:
http://www.ssec.wisc.edu/mcidas/doc/mcv ... ndles.html
This works only for data already loaded into the display, which makes sense, but is not outlined in the help. It would be nice to have a way to save data even if you do not load it at the time of saving the bundle.
Thanks,
Joleen

Re: Make Data Local
Hi Joleen-
I've updated inq. 843 for the behavior you are seeing.
I've created inq. 852 for getting the bundles to save only data again: http://mcidas.ssec.wisc.edu/inquiry-v/?inquiry=852 This feature was lost during the switch to the new data sources, so we'd like to restore this feature as well.
Thanks, Jay
