2023 McIDAS Users' Group Meeting

Post by beckys »

Hello,

Online registration is now available for the 2023 McIDAS Users' Group (MUG) Meeting to be held 25-28 September in Madison, Wisconsin. The registration form and meeting information can be found on the MUG Meeting webpage:

https://www.ssec.wisc.edu/mcidas/support/meetings/

The registration deadline is 01 September 2023. Please complete your registration by Monday, 31 July 2023 if you are submitting an abstract.

The planned schedule is for meeting presentations and discussions on Monday and Tuesday, a working reception on Monday evening, and optional full-day training workshops on Wednesday and Thursday. There is one fee for the meeting registration, and an additional fee if you opt to register for training.

There are three different two-day workshops being offered.

The McIDAS-X and McIDAS-V User Workshops will cover basic and advanced topics of McIDAS-X and McIDAS-V. Day One will start with the basics of accessing and displaying different types of data, as well as new features available in McIDAS-X and McIDAS-V. Day Two will cover Advanced Topics including advanced display types and python/jython tools available in McIDAS-X and McIDAS-V. Both Beginner and Advanced Users will benefit from these training sessions.

The McIDAS Python Programmer Workshop will cover writing a new McIDAS ADDE server using the McIDAS Python API, now called pyADDE. There are currently two pyADDE servers included in McIDAS-X for GOES ABI and MTG FCI. Participants will learn to write a pyADDE server and will leave with the knowledge to write more of their own pyADDE servers. Ideally, participants in this workshop will have at least one year of Python programming experience.

Please contact the McIDAS Help Desk at mug@ssec.wisc.edu if you have any questions about the meeting, or contact Maria Vasys (maria.vasys@ssec.wisc.edu) with any questions about registration.

We hope to see you here in Madison in September!

Thank you,
McIDAS User Services
