Inquiry #460

Post by joleenf »

I see that Inquiry #460 is being worked on. I am wondering if that inquiry includes the option to save the images in a similar way to the View>Capture>Movie (Image File section) Filename Template where I can set a generic name and use macro(?) names to customize the name for each image. In the case of time animations, that is usually the date, in the case of band data - the bands, in the case of multiple layers with different data types - the data type.

Example:
I have a visibility animation from August 26, 1997 at 17:45 UTC of bands 1-5 GOES, I might save the data as
GOES1997238_1745band01.gif
GOES1997238_1745band02.gif
GOES1997238_1745band03.gif
GOES1997238_1745band04.gif
GOES1997238_1745band05.gif

Template: GOES1997238_%timestamp%band%band%.gif

Thanks!

Handy link to #460

That's a great idea, and it should be relatively straightforward to write. I should probably mention that I've been using the #460 work to figure out how to get rid of all the per-display/view/panel/etc toolbars, menus, and options--killing off all the redundant parts of the GUI has been on the McV TODO list forever. But there are currently an unknown number of edge cases (like dealing with shared groups).
