Hi,
We have a point data set (atmospheric motion vectors [AMV]) that are validated against RAOBS (among other data sources). It would be very useful for McIDAS-V to allow the plotting of the AMV data within a certain distance of a RAOB, within the skewt diagram.
Just wondering if this is even something that could be done.
Thanks,
stw
Raob SKEWT and other data
Re: Raob SKEWT and other data
Hi stw,
Can you tell us what the file format (MD, netCDF, BUFR, etc) is for your point data set of AMVs?
And if you want to provide a sample file, we'll try it out and see what we can do (and write up enhancement requests as needed).
Thanks,
Barry

Re: Raob SKEWT and other data
Barry,
The files are in classic NetCDF format. The attached example used Meteosat-8 data. To look at the data use the netCDF/GEMPAK Point Data files data chooser. Let me know if you need an AMV station model to plot the wind barbs.
Thanks,
Steve Wanzong

Steve,
What are you using for the RAOB? Are the AMV winds essentially 3D random
point data?
