variable line thickness in scatter analysis

Post by kbedka1 »

When one draws a curve in a scatterplot and the end points of the curve are connected, all points inside the curve are analyzed. When one draws a line without connecting the ends, only the points that fall on that line are analyzed. It would be useful to have adjustable line thickness for this tool, especially when studying aircraft contrails so one can see the satellite cloud properties along a contrail that has varying thickness.

Hi Kris,

Good idea...I've written this request up in an inquiry. http://mcidas.ssec.wisc.edu/inquiry-v/?inquiry=691

It's really an accident that the line by itself w/o connecting points selects
anything. Would a point by point selector, or pixel by pixel selector
work better?

I really don't know the difference between the two options you propose, could you explain? My colleague would like to draw a line of varying thickness on either the image or scatterplot to analyze contrail charactertics, since contrails spread laterally with age, one thickness won't always work.
