North Marker

Post by joleenf »

Hi,

Please consider adding a simple north marker to the options in the Default Background Maps? This would be especially useful for communication with geographers and to provide a bearing when the display is rotated or the projection is not mercator.

I did try to create my own with a drawing file, but there was no way to import it back in via scripting.

What do you mean by a 'North Marker'? Do you need an arrow or the letter 'N' or something fancier?

Yes, a North Bearing. Something like an arrow with "North" at top, and/or an image with N,S,E,W.

This would be very useful. Having just a shape is not a great solution as it would look different from projection to projection. Hopefully it can work like the arrows were you specify beginning and ending lat/lon pairs. I created inquiry 2126 to request the enhancement.
