Hi -
I note a short non-conclusive discussion about reading MYD05_L2 files back in 2017. I wonder whether there has been any progress in this matter. I would be very much interested in reading this type of MODIS files.

I assume that you are referring to this "Error when open HDF file in McIdas" thread?

If so, sorry, but there has not been any progress. It is written up as an enhancement request in McX Inquiry 16281, but its status is "Hold funding", which essentially means that it in order for it to be assigned, more users will need to request it or someone will need to offer to fund the effort. I will add a note to the inquiry saying that you are "very much interested in reading this type of MODIS files".
