Ehen I choose gridded data and then NCEP Model Data, the data does not list. It says please wait and then an error. How do I correct it?

Using the Gridded Data > Remote chooser using the http://www.ssec.wisc.edu/mcidas/software/v/threddsRTModels.xml catalog, I was able to select:

Realtime Data > NCEP Model Data > Global Forecast System (GFS) > GFS CONUS 80km > Latest Collection for GFS CONUS 80km

... click Add Source, and display some data. This chooser points to a variety of URLs that are mostly maintained by Unidata. I'm wondering if perhaps you tried loading data from the catalog at the same time they were performing some maintenance/updates to their servers. Could you give this another try and let me know if you are still seeing the problem? If you are, please let me know the URL listed in the Catalog field of your Gridded Data > Remote chooser.
