area file data choices

Post by ghansham »

Hi all

I got a GOES total ozone area file.
When I open in idv/mcv, I find 3 data choices: RAW,BRIT. and TEMPERATURE.
I am opening via file chooser and not local ADDE server or remote server.
These datachoices I feel are not relevant for total ozone atleast.

Regards

Hi Ghansham -

In McIDAS-V, no calibration of data is done through the General>Files/Directories chooser. When some AREAS are loaded into the Field Selector using that method, fields for 'RAW', 'TEMP', and 'BRIT' may list out, even though only RAW values are contained in the file. We have fixing this (only listing the available calibration) written up as Inquiry 2140. I know that the IDV group had been working on calibrating AREA data when loaded through General>Files/Directories for some satellites, but I found that that the calibrated values weren't matching either McIDAS-V or McIDAS-X ADDE, so we haven't added this functionality to McIDAS-V (this was part of Inquiry 2326).

Can you please post a sample file to our anonymous ftp? Here are instructions:

Code: Select all

ftp ftp.ssec.wisc.edu
user: anonymous
password: your email address
bin
cd pub/incoming
put filename
bye

Once you post the file, please let me know the file's name and I'll take a look at it to verify that it may not be a separate issue from Inquiries 2140/2326.

Thanks -
