wind derived products

Post by ghansham »

Hi all

Has anybody tried generating the win derived products given at following link:
http://tropic.ssec.wisc.edu/real-time/windmain.php
using McIDAS-V.
I am planning to generate. Need guidance.

Ghansham,
I know of no one who has used McIDAS-V to make derived products nor derived
product plots from AMVs. When we generate them we use McIDAS-X and McIDAS
format GRID files.

Hi Dave, Ghansham,

I have had ascii text files generated for me and then I have brought the data in via the ascii text file data adapter. If I remember correctly, I modified the text file once again and added a header:

I used this with a customized layout, I had to post that to ftp, because the extension is not yet allowed as an attachment.

This is not exactly what you are looking for, but maybe a similar approach would be possible for the derived divergence?

Hi Ghansham,

I realized that I posted the wrong file, I have posted a file which works with the Text Point and Trajectory Data Files chooser to the ftp site.
