Hello,

I know that the University of Wisconsin's Satellite Data Services group has a server for Himawari that has up-to-date data (27 APR - 12:00:00Z as of right now). The server requires accounting information, though. If you are interested in learning more, the Satellite Data Services group has a Contact Us link at the top where you can contact them directly.

The 140.90.213.161 server (previously known as "satepsanone.nesdis.noaa") is maintained by NOAA/NESDIS and not by anyone in our group or building, so we don't have any control over it. I sent them an email this morning asking if the server was having issues since Himawari data hasn't been updated. I'll let you know if/when I hear back from them. Previously, they had mentioned that this server isn't considered operational and it has been known to have problems similar to this in the past. I dug around a bit, but I didn't find another realtime server for Himawari data outside of our Satellite Data Services group.

I'll update you as I learn more, or if I happen to find another Himawari server.

Thanks,
Bob Carp

Ok bobc, thanks a lot for the reply. I'll try at the Satellite Data Services group. I keep an eye out for news.

Hello,

A bit of an update. ESPC wanted to thank you for bringing the issue to their attention and they're actively investigating. I just checked and it doesn't seem like new data is flowing yet, but I'll let you know as I hear more.

Bob

Hi again,

They just let me know that this problem has been fixed. I just checked all of the HMGLOB datasets and all of them have 15:30:00 and 16:00:00Z data from today, 04/28/2020. I doubt they'll back-fill in the data missing from 04/21 through today, but at least realtime data is being added again.

Let me know if you give this a look and have any other problems.

Bob
