Moving McIDAS-V

Good Morning:

I want to load McIDAS -V onto a Vista/64 bit machine. How can I transfer all my McIDAS-V preferences, favorite bundles, etc from McIDAS-V on my XP machine to Vista? Do I just copy over the .mcidasv directory?

Thanks for he help.

Weather Radar Beam Center Height

Wish list ....

When the center mouse button is pressed over a Weather Radar Image the value at that point is noted (dBZ, vel, spectrum width). It would be useful if the beam center height was also returned.

The java NOAA Weather and Climate Toolkit has that feature -- http://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/oa/radar/jnx/

Thanks..

Re: Locate by Station Name

Hi Barry: Specifying a station to center an image load (IMGDISP STA=KDCA). Also, being able to move the McV cursor to a station position and mark that position would be beneficial (PC L KDCA; CUR 5 5; CW 3). In addition, we use the McIDAS-X: FIND, DIST, STNLIST, STNPLOT comands frequently. STNLIST R...

Locate by Station Name

For the Wish List: There are places in McV where it would be nice to locate a point not only by lat/lon, line/element (imagery) or lat/lon (location indicator), but by the station name. (McIDAS-X ... STA= and PC L). Also, it would be helpful to list the Level II and Level III radar sites alphabetica...

Re: Saving Range when Displaying GOES IR Temp (band 4) Image

Good Morning: Well the brightnessToTemp formula is working. However, I am having no luck in saving data using the parameter defaults editor tool. I have tried all sorts of combinations for the parameter ("7.*_Band4_TEMP", ".*_TEMP", etc) but it does not save the values. Any furth...

Re: Saving Range when Displaying GOES IR Temp (band 4) Image

Hi Jess: Put method (below) in Local Jython User's library. Right clicked on brightnessToTemp > Insert IDV Action > General > Create Formula > this gets appended to the method ... idv.handleAction('action.edit.formula.create') > Save... get this .. There was an error in the Python library: Traceback...

Saving Range when Displaying GOES IR Temp (band 4) Image

Good Afternoon: Probably not understanding how to do this but every time I display an GOES IR Temp image I want the range to be 330 to 200. Now I have to change the range after the image is displayed. After changing the range I did left click on IR Image > File > Save > Save as Parameter Defaults > ...

Convert Brightness to Temperatures --- *.gini Satellite Data

Hello: Looking at *.gini satellite data files. It is grid data, brightness values. Can I generate a jython formula to convert brightness to temperatures for the IR bands? b brightness t temperature I believe the formula is if b less than 176 let t = (660-b)/2 if b is equal to or greater than 176 let...
