If you do a search in the McIDAS-V User's Guide for java heap, the method for changing the memory setting is in the Advanced Preferences section. The User's guide is available from the help menu.

Your configuration should work, but we do not have the machine to test that configuration. What we list on our website is what we have the ability to test, and therefore can support.

The quickest way would be to have a dataset for each band and have each band in its own directory on your local machine.
