Re: Lines in McIDAS-V
Hi Boris - We have seen other users with this same problem before, and there are a couple things that you can try. First, try changing the 'Fast rendering' options for your map background. To do this, click on the blue 'Default Background Maps' listed in the Legend. This takes you to the Layer Contr...

Re: How display a satellite image over topography map
Hi Boris -
Can you please post the location where you picked up these files? That way we can try them out here and see if we see the same error.
Thanks -

Re: Calculate 12 hour rainfall totals
Hello - I spoke with a few people around here, and we feel that the way to do this is with Jython programming. We also believe that this would be a great example to share with everyone. One of our programmers is going to spend some time working on this, and we will show you how to do this. Our progr...

Re: Calculate 12 hour rainfall totals
Hello - You can actually go in and edit this 'Time Step Difference' formula to accommodate your needs. Right click on the 'Time step difference (D(T)=D(T)-D(T-1)) formula in the Field Selector tab of the Data Explorer, and select 'Edit Formula'. This opens the Formula Editor window. In the Formula f...

Re: NPP Chooser
The NPP (National Polar-orbiting Operational Environmental Satellite System Preparatory Project) satellite has changed its name to the Suomi National Polar-orbiting Partnership (Suomi NPP) satellite. This data is now coming in, and can be displayed in McIDAS-V 1.01. One location for this data is on ...

Re: dateline?
Hi HP and Kaba - I have written up McIDAS-V Inquiry #1203 to cover the formulas that do not default to the correct display type. m I also noticed that the display type used for the formulas is carried over from the last formula that you selected, meaning that a lot of the formulas initially default ...

Re: dateline?
Hi Kaba and Tim - The 'Enable access to image data by reference' option actually is checked on by default when you first install McIDAS-V. As for your second note, I agree that there are a few things in McIDAS-V that automatically don't default to their ideal settings (display types, as you noted fo...

Re: dateline?
Hi Tim - There is an option in the Advanced User Preferences for 'Enable access to image data by reference'. From your attached image, I believe that you do not have this option selected. Check the box for this item, and hit Apply/Ok. Note that you will need to restart McIDAS-V for any changes in th...

Re: Formulas adding inconsistently
Hi Joleen -
I have tried removing formulas a few times and they always seem to be removed when I restart McIDAS-V. I added your mention of this happening to the inquiry's request.
Thanks -

Re: Formulas adding inconsistently
Hi Joleen - I saw the same thing happening back in early December and it appears to still be a problem. I wrote this up as inquiry #1179 and added this forum post to it. m It appears that things work (as far as editing/creating formulas) through the Tools menu in the Main Display window if you have ...
