When will the next update of McIDAS-V (1.7?) be released?
Will it include local server access to GRB and CMI GOES-16 files?

Re: keystrokes for emulation of middle mouse button
Hi Bob,
Thanks for the workaround - I have to press the crtl button and the left mouse button simultaneously with fingers on one hand and use a finger on the other hand to move the cursor around to sample.

keystrokes for emulation of middle mouse button
We use McV on a laptop and like to see data values under the cursor. This uses the middle mouse button, and occasionally only the touchpad is available. With the previous version of McV (1.5), we were able to: For a Mac laptop, hold the Option key while clicking in the bottom right corner of the tou...

Problem reading in geotiff with version 1.6
First - Thanks for updating the feature of reading the date/time from the file for the geotiff files! I'm working with geotiff images that tend to be huge, so to be able to read more than one, we grab a subsection using the software GDAL. Because we're dealing with imagery from South America, someti...

operation order matters
I like to have a color bar on the infrared image and show it in degrees C. I recently found out that the order of applying these features matters. For the AREA file, I loaded it in as temperature. I added the satellite/legacy/convection color table and changed the range to use predefined from the co...

Re: read in sample GOES-R netcdf "Cloud Moisture Imagery (CMI)"?
I was wondering if the sample data set I downloaded off the GOES-R homepage was a bit dated. The date on the zip file says 20140331 and the data in the file have 2 dates 2005155201500 and 2014058... I am trying to read in the data with the general / grid file (netcdf) , so it sounds like it is the d...

read in sample GOES-R netcdf "Cloud Moisture Imagery (CMI)"?
Since McV can read in netcdf data, I was wondering if it could read the sample GOES-R netcdf Cloud Moisture Imagery (CMI) that as I understand, will be one of the formats that GOES-R imagery will be made available in. Here is a link to the sample data set: m I was not successful in displaying the ne...

AHI 0.86µm description not correct
I'll start this out with I'd rather see just the central wavelength and what channel the satellite operator labels it as. I'm not a big fan of the descriptors because most of the time one needs to compare the channel with another channel to highlight what is indicated by the sample use. With that sa...

Re: reading in a netcdf file
Hi Bob, Thanks for checking in to this. One thing I noticed was that the projection was Plate Carree, which I wasn't completely familiar with so I utilized google to find out that it is essentially equal area. Is that something that McV is getting hung up on? Otherwise - I can try to check with the ...

reading in a netcdf file
I'm trying to read in some netcdf "vegetation health" files from this site ftp://ftp.star.nesdis.noaa.gov/pub/corp ... HP_4km/VH/
I get a message that the file may not be netcdf compliant. The link to code to netcdf checkers requires older versions of java...
I can see the data in the variable viewer. Any quick suggestions?
