Ghansham,
I know of no one who has used McIDAS-V to make derived products nor derived
product plots from AMVs. When we generate them we use McIDAS-X and McIDAS
format GRID files.

Thanks, Bob. I had tried doing exactly what you suggested but didn't have the syntax correct in the wind barb definition blanks.
Correct syntax = satisfactory result.

Wind barb plots from difference of u and v components
From a netcdf file of point data I would like to plot wind barbs from the difference of u and v wind components.
The file includes components u1, u2, v1, v2; I'd like to see the wind barbs resulting from u1-u2 and v1-v2. Does a tool
already exist for this purpose? Thanks!
