Re: McV 1.9 does not recognise CMA Upper Air sounding files
Hi Nigel, Thanks for pointing this out. I'm replicating this problem with some of my CMA files as well. I believe a netCDF update in McV 1.9 caused this problem. I wrote this up as Inquiry 3148 . I left a note in the inquiry to contact you when this gets resolved, though I don't have an estimate on ...

SSEC Unidata Server Shutting Down in April 2024
Hello, The below message from NSF Unidata Support on 04/02/2024 mentions that the SSEC Unidata server (adde.ssec.wisc.edu) is being permanently decommissioned on April 26, 2024. Users of this server for accessing satellite, radar, and point data in McIDAS-V are encouraged to use the adde.ucar.edu se...

Re: NOAA CLASS files
Hello, I'm assuming you are loading the data through the General>Files/Directories chooser. By default, this loads the data as a single-time gridded data source. There's a data type "Aggregate Grids by Time" that would allow you to select multiple files, click Add Source, and then be able ...

Re: NOAA CLASS files
Hello, Dependent on your operating system, there are a couple ways you can work with the netCDF (*.nc) file in McIDAS-V: If you are on Linux or macOS, you can create a local dataset through the ADDE Data Manager (Tools>Manage ADDE Datasets) with the GOES ABI format. You can then access this local da...

Re: How do I speed up the time animation capturing feature?
Hello, The image you shared is the McIDAS-V directory. This directory doesn't contain any code, but things like user preferences, formulas, color enhancements, etc. that you would want retained as you update McIDAS-V versions. The directory where McIDAS-V was installed to (called McIDAS-V-System by ...

Re: How do I speed up the time animation capturing feature?
Hello, Thanks for your question about animation capturing speed. The way that McIDAS-V captures animations is by doing a screen shot of each frame before moving to the next. This process takes a bit of time and does not use the dwell rates specified in the Time Animation Widget. I wrote up Inquiry 3...

Re: How do I plot a simple location mark by lat/long?
Hello, I think you're on the right track by using the Drawing Controls. Once you add a drawing control layer to your display, in the Layer Controls you should see a "create a symbol" button (see the red square in the image below): draw1.png Once you select this shape, you should be able to...

Re: No winds above 150 hpa level
Hi Raul, Great! I'm glad that disabling this option made your data visible. If you like clipping of the wireframe box on the horizontal scale, but still want all of your vertical levels visible, you could increase the height of your wireframe box. This can be done with the "set vertical range&q...

Re: No winds above 150 hpa level
Hello, I tried some GFS global 0.25 degree data in core 1.8 and I was able to plot trajectories and other plan view displays above 150 hPa. One thing I noticed is that, by default, the wireframe box goes up to 16km vertically. This is generally somewhere between 150 and 100 hPa, so any level above 1...
